Lacking comprehensive national data privacy laws, U.S. users have no straightforward means to safeguard their data.

The NOYB – European Center for Digital Rights has lodged complaints against Meta in nearly a dozen countries, urging regulatory bodies to take action. The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has also issued an official request for Meta to address these lawsuits. In response, Meta has lamented these legal challenges, arguing that they impede European innovation and competition in AI development. “This is a step backwards for European innovation,” Meta asserted, maintaining that its data practices comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
